Brazilian club Fluminense is set to sign Chelsea’s Thiago Silva, who has long been acknowledged as one of the world’s most accomplished and successful defenders.
Reports say Fluminense are set to sign Silva, who has won silverware in Brazil, Italy, France, England, and at international level, as well as individual honours, as a free agent.
According to respected football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement is in place between Silva and Fluminense as regards the player’s signature.

‘‘Contracts are being prepared, and the plan is to get them signed in the next few weeks.
‘‘Deal will be valid until June 2026, as @geglobo reported. Here we go, coming soon.’’ Romano wrote on X.
This comes after it was revealed that Silva will leave Chelsea as a free agent at the end of the season after he rejected proposals in January to stay and help Chelsea until the end.
