Cisco has established an all-in-one AI data centre solution co-developed with Nvidia that gives startups the server, storage, networking hardware, and AI software they need to implement generative AI and other AI applications on its platform.
While announcing the partnership, the San Jose, Calif.-based company launched a new $1 billion global AI investment fund targeting strategic investments in startup companies that build offerings based on Cisco’s strategy and infrastructure.
During a Cisco Live analyst conference, Mark Patterson, the executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Cisco, stated that artificial intelligence is radically altering every business.
According to Cisco executives, the first data centre product line that can be controlled in the cloud will be Cisco Nexus HyperFabric AI clusters.
Cisco Nexus HyperFabric AI, a jointly created platform, was launched for data centres to make the deployment of AI models and applications easier.
According to Cisco, the software would make system use, monitoring, and management possible even for people without “deep IT knowledge and skills.”
The tech giant stated that early trial access would be provided to a limited number of clients in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a broader release anticipated soon after.
The company claimed to have already invested $200 million of the money, investing in companies such as Scale AI, Mistral AI, and Cohere.
‘[AI is] changing the way businesses communicate with each other. It’s changing the way they leverage technology.
“And at Cisco, we believe we have a very significant role to play here in really being the trusted partner to help our customers navigate this new era of AI,’ said Patterson.
Cisco intends to gain a piece of the rapidly growing AI data centre infrastructure industry with today’s announcement. Industry observers believe Cisco has a chance to be successful.
The company’s partnership with Nvidia, whose GPUs rule the AI market, is beneficial.
