Nyesom Wike will not be suspended anytime soon by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after a Federal High Court in Abuja extended the order restraining the party from suspending or expelling the Rivers state governor.

The embattled governor through his lawyers proposed the court to order the defendants to maintain status quo and stay all actions relating to the threats to suspend or expel him, The Cable.

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, counsel to Wike, Joshua Musa acknowledged receipt of court filings from the PDP.

The court extended the interim order, restraining the PDP and its leadership from making the move to suspend or expel Wike.

PDP’s lawyer, Johnson Usman, responded to the judge’s order and promised, “We will not tamper with the res (subject matter of the case pending its determination).”

The judge adjourned the suit till Monday, March 6, 2023, as agreed by both lawyers, for the hearing of all pending applications and the substantive matter.
