Ex-Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amunike has reacted after losing out on the opportunity to become the next coach of the Super Eagles, which has been his long-term dream.
The former coach of Nigeria’s U-17 team who opened up in a chat with Punch said that he will remain disciplined because coaching the senior national team of Nigeria is not a do-or-die affair.
He also noted that the allegations that were made in the media because of the Eagles job are not true, and who recommended candidates for the job know he will not be easily bullied.
“They succeeded in smearing my name in the media because of the Eagle’s job,” Amunike said.

“They can continue with their propaganda, but I will remain disciplined. It’s not a do-or-die job.
“All those allegations made in the media online because of the Eagles job are obviously not true, but those who recommended candidates for the job know I will not be easily bullied. I know there is still bad blood with these officials, but it’s fine,” he added.
Amunike lost out on the plum job following the selection of Finidi George whose appointment was confirmed by the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following the recommendation of its Technical and Development Committee.
In just over five weeks, Finidi’s first assignment will be to lead the Super Eagles to success in their two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and the Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan, respectively.
