In a concerted effort to combat the rising threat of banditry in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the operatives of the FCT Police Command executed a successful operation, storming a kidnappers’ den nestled within the dense foliage of Jibi forest adjacent to Dei-dei Abuja.
The operation on March 23, 2024, at approximately 06:00 am, saw law enforcement officers descend upon the criminal hideout with precision and determination.
The swift action by the police came on the heels of actionable intelligence indicating that notorious criminals, identified as Mallam Danyaboi and Ilu, who were known associates of Nasiru Mohammed, alias “Danger,” had orchestrated plans for a retaliatory kidnapping spree in Zuba and its vicinity.
Nasiru Mohammed, alias “Danger,” had been apprehended and paraded by the Police Command on March 11, 2024, in connection with a string of kidnappings that had plagued the FCT.
Upon arriving at the scene, the bandits, sensing the imminent threat posed by the approaching law enforcement officers, opted to flee their sanctuary to evade capture.
However, their escape was thwarted as police personnel swiftly moved in to secure the area, preventing any chance of their regrouping or launching further criminal activities.
In the wake of the successful raid, authorities have implemented stringent crime prevention measures, including intensified patrols, to preempt any potential resurgence of kidnapping attempts in the region.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the FCT.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
