The interim coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has revealed who will likely captain the senior national team against the Black Stars of Ghana in today’s friendly match in Morocco.
The Super Eagles will be without the usual captains of the team, Ahmed Musa and Williams Troost-Ekong, for the two friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
While speaking ahead of the game against Ghana, which will be staged in Marrakech, Finidi said that Leicester City duo Kelechi Iheanacho or Wilfred Ndidi will put on the captain’s armband in the absence of Musa and Ekong.
When asked about his captain for the friendly game, the former Ajax of Amsterdam and Real Betis player said, “Ndidi is there or Kelechi? Definitely, we want to win it.”
Finidi George continued, “Tactics, we are not changing much, just add a few elements we think will help players with energy.
He also said the team is prepared, and he is confident the players will turn up against Ghana and secure the much needed victory at the end of the game in Morocco.
“The team is prepared. The players know what is at stake. The rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana is always there, so it is an extra motivation for the players. We are good to go. We are going to have a good game tomorrow, and hopefully, God be on our side, we will win it,” George disclosed to NFF TV. “We are not changing much. We will only add a few elements that we think will help the players. We will be very tactical and see how we can win the ball as quickly as possible.
“Definitely, we want to win it, and with the high spirits in camp, I am sure they will do the needful.”The coach noted.
