Audu Mahmood, the former Director General of PDP New Generation, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) with thousands of followers from Garun Gabas Ward and Mallam-Madori Local Government in Jigawa State.

Mahmood, who was crucial in mobilizing youths for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has now aligned with the APC.

During the 2023 elections, Audu Mahmood was instrumental in the victory of the PDP in Garun Gabas Ward, making it one of the strongholds for the party in Mallam-Madori Local Government.

He officially joined the APC on February 4, 2024, accompanied by thousands of his followers, including former PDP executives and leaders from various wards in the Local Government.

Among those who joined Mahmood in defecting from PDP to APC were Alh Ya’u Abdullahi and Yakubu Mohammed from Mallam-Madori Local Government, Abubakar Muhammed Wakil, the PDP Ward Chairman of Garun Gabas Ward, Mallam Isyaku, PDP Deputy Ward Chairman of Tagwaro Ward, Adamu Abdullahi, PDP Ward Secretary of Tagwaro Ward, Aminu Ibrahim, former PDP Youth Leader of Tagwaro Ward, and other prominent figures from Mairakumi Ward and Toni Ward.

Mahmood explained that the decision to lead this substantial defection to APC was driven by popular demand and inspired by the achievements of Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State.

He commended Governor Namadi for impactful education, health, sports, and community development initiatives.

During the grand reception to welcome the defectors, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, represented by Sen Mustapha Makama Kiyawa and Alh Adamu Mohammed, Chief of Staff and Principal Private Secretary, respectively, commended the new APC members.

The event was attended by APC State Chairman Alh Aminu Sani Gumel, APC Zonal Chairman, Hadeija Zone, Alh Abdullahi Ango, and other APC leaders.
