US-based tech firm, Amazon, has launched a generative AI-powered tool that allows sellers to create listings through a URL by entering just a few words about the product.
The company disclosed the development in a blog post seen by News.ng on Thursday and is now making it easier for sellers to create listings if an item is already listed on their website.
Mary Beth Westmoreland, Amazon’s VP of worldwide selling partner experience, said that the aim is to help sellers reduce the time it takes to bring the product from a different website onto Amazon.
According to her, the feature is rolling out now and will be available to US vendors in a few weeks.
However, Amazon cautioned sellers that they must be the owner, or have permission to use the contents of the link if they choose to paste a URL to build the product page.
If, on the other hand, Amazon discovers that the seller misrepresented their ownership of the website, it says it may file a lawsuit.
“In addition to using sparse amounts of text or an image to generate listings, we are now launching the ability for sellers to simply leverage their existing listings by just providing Amazon with a URL, which is automatically parsed by our generative AI-based features, to seamlessly create high-quality, engaging listings for Amazon’s store,” the company said on its blog.
Amazon released an AI tool in October of last year that allows advertising to create a background using word prompts.
The company claimed at the time that an item with a contextual background may result in a 40% higher click-through rate than one with a white background.
“We are finding that generative AI has a profound capacity to simplify the effort it takes for our selling partners to create great product listings, and we will continue to innovate upon these capabilities,” the company concluded.
