Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor of Enugu, has reacted to his legal victory that upheld his mandate in the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.
The Court of Appeal in Lagos had recently dismissed an appeal filed against Governor Mbah’s electoral victory by the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate.
The decision was in harmony with the Enugu State Election Petitions Tribunal’s earlier dismissal of the same matter. Both judgments, according to Mbah, underscore the democratic will of the people and reaffirm the integrity of the judiciary as the ultimate defender of justice.
Expressing his gratitude to the justices of the Court of Appeal, Mbah commended them for upholding the sanctity of the legal process. He also thanked the people of Enugu State for their resilience in the face of what he termed as “untruths” propagated to tarnish his government’s reputation.
With the legal challenges now behind him, Mbah pledged to redouble his efforts in bringing development to every corner of Enugu State.
He assured the citizens that the victory was not personal but a triumph for initiatives that would soon materialize, such as a continuous and reliable water supply in homes within the next 20 days, extensive road construction projects, and the establishment of smart schools across all 260 wards in the state.
Mbah declared, “Let me assure Ndi Enugu that we are not going to let them down. We are going to deploy every breath and fibre of our being to consolidate on the gains we have made so far.”
Acknowledging the support and trust bestowed upon him by the people, Mbah concluded with a resounding promise: “We will never fail them. Indeed, the long-awaited tomorrow is right here with us. Thank you.”
