Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers on Wednesday, presented the state’s budget for the fiscal year 2024 to the House of Assembly.
During his address to the lawmakers, the governor highlighted his government’s key focus areas and achievements in various sectors.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Governor Fubara thanked the President for the support in the state’s progress and reiterated the commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.
The governor emphasized the importance of equitable resource distribution across all regions during the presentation.
He outlined significant strides in infrastructure development, citing completed and ongoing projects such as roads, hospitals, schools, and electrification initiatives spanning various parts of the state.
Education emerged as a focal point, with the governor citing completed secondary schools and educational facilities, including notable projects at the University of Port Harcourt and the Nigerian Law School.
Healthcare also featured prominently, with the governor highlighting the completion and inauguration of hospitals and primary healthcare centres, underscoring the government’s dedication to robust healthcare delivery.
Additionally, plans were revealed for a substantial housing project in collaboration with TAF Global Africa, aiming to develop 20,000 housing units in phases, addressing the state’s critical need for affordable housing.
