A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Joshua Mimam Sampson, has assured party members in Rivers that Governor Sim Fubara will cut his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to size.
Sampson commented while reacting to the recent brawl between loyalists of both politicians in the Rivers state House of Assembly.
He stated that Governor Fubara would not be intimidated by the antics of Wike, the current Federal Capital Territory minister.
The PDP chieftain conveyed Governor Fubara’s unwavering position, affirming that the Rivers state chief executive remains steadfast in fulfilling his official duties.
He also noted that Governor Sim’s presence in Abuja was for an official engagement and emphasized his imminent return to the state to resume his responsibilities.
Rumours had been circulating that the governor was in the Nigerian capital to beg Wike.
But photos from the presidency showed that the governor attended the police council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.
Governor Fubara later joined his PDP colleagues from other states for an emergency meeting at the Oyo Governor’s Lodge.
Sampson added that the FCT minister’s influence or authority in the south-south state has been diminished, stating that Wike has been “demystified.”
He stated that Governor Fubara has a decisive intent to continue governing the state and would not tilt towards any political landscape or balance of power against the interests of Rivers people.
