Kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has sent a note of warning to governor-elect Abba Kabir Yusuf while reacting to a public warning earlier issued by the newly elected New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate.
It is understood that Yusuf who is also referred to as Abba Gida-Gida had asked people to stay off public buildings and to avoid constructing anything on government lands, schools and other public places.
However, Governor Ganduje released a statement through the commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, on Friday, March 31, 2023, asking the governor-elect to desist from making official pronouncements in order to avoid confusion.

Garba said: “The action of the governor-elect amounts to jumping the gun by issuing a directive on a matter affecting government laid down policy while the incumbent is yet to run his full term.”
The incumbent governor added that he remains the man with executive powers in Kano state until May 29, 2023, and reserves the right to carry out his functions in the public interest, even on the eve of his exit.
