Henry Ndukuba, the primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has urged President Bola Tinubu to take swift action to alleviate the growing hardship in Nigeria.
He made the call during a sermon at the funeral service for the late former governor of Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu, at the Saint Andrews Church, Imola, in Owo.
Represented by Blessing Enyindah, the archbishop of Ikwerre, Rivers State, Ndukuba highlighted the nation’s various challenges, including insecurity, hunger, and ritual killings.
He called on President Tinubu to fulfil his promise of renewed hope, stating that time was running out.
“The hardship we are facing in Nigeria is unbearable; there is big trouble in the land. Please, help us, Mr. President, to do something. We appreciate your efforts, but what we need now is a quick solution to the present hardship in the country,” the archbishop stated.
He emphasized the urgent need to positively impact society, especially when holding public positions.
On his part, Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, praised the late Akeredolu as a “fearless soldier” who dedicated himself to the service of the state.
Tinubu acknowledged Akeredolu’s unwavering advocacy for the people of Ondo and recognized the void left by his passing.
