Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has appointed Onogwu Muhammed, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and an award-winning crisis communication expert, as Special Adviser on Public Relations.
Muhammed, who previously served as the Chief Press Secretary to Ododo’s predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
His tenure as Chief Press Secretary was marked by his receipt of the 2023 National Spokesperson Award in Crisis Communication Management.
According to a statement from Lugard House in Lokoja, Muhammed’s extensive CV and relevant experience make him a valuable addition to the Governor’s team.
His responsibilities will include providing strategic counsel, managing the public image, and overseeing the communications of both the Governor and the state government.
Muhammed’s role encompasses a wide range of duties, including developing and implementing communication strategies that align with the administration’s goals.
It also includes managing relationships with the media to ensure accurate and favourable coverage of the Governor’s activities and initiatives and addressing and mitigating communication crises to protect and enhance the reputation of the Governor and the state government.
Others are facilitating effective communication with the public ensuring their concerns and feedback are addressed and coordinating communication with various stakeholders, including government officials and community leaders.
Muhammed is also expected to maintain and enhance the public image of the Governor and ensure clear and effective communication within the government.
Governor Ododo’s appointment of Muhammed is seen as a strategic move to bolster the administration’s communication efforts.
Muhammed is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the public narrative, building trust with the public, and ensuring that the Governor’s communication efforts are effective, transparent, and aligned with the administration’s overall goals.
