The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Campaign Council has urged the APC candidate Chief Timipre Sylva in the governorship election on November 11, 2023, to withdraw from the race, saying that the odds were against him.
This is according to a press release issued on Tuesday by the PDP’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Mitemi Obordor. The statement was made at the party’s Sagbama Local government Area Constituency (LGA). About 3 rallies took place in Agbere community on Tuesday, as part of the party’s re-election campaigns in the state.
Mr Obordor, a member of the House of Representatives for the state’s Federal Constituency (Ogbia), said that unlike the PDP tickets of Mr Douye Diri, Mr Sylva, who is also an MP for the state’s House of Representatives, “has no level of acceptance anywhere in the state,” which he said was a sign of his impending defeat.
He said, “I would like to begin my comments by calling on Chief Timipre Sylva to withdraw as candidate for this elections.”
He said, “There are several reasons why I am calling on him to withdraw. The first reason is that in order to govern this state, you need to be seen as an honorable man. You can’t just say one thing and then do another.
The same man said publicly that the days of contesting for political seats are over, So in my opinion, this man is dishonest.”
