The negotiator for those abducted during the Abuja/Kaduna train attack, Tukur Mamu, has been arrested in Egypt.
The Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed Mamu’s arrest in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the DSS, Mamu was intercepted by Nigeria’s foreign partners in Cairo while on his way to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Justifying his arrest, the DSS noted that Mamu has questions to answer with regard to security matters in the country.
“The act (arrest) followed a request by Nigeria’s military, law enforcement, and intelligence community to their foreign partners to bring back Mamu to the country to answer critical questions on ongoing investigations relating to some security matters in parts of the country. The public may wish to note that the law will appropriately take its course,” the statement said.
Mamu, who was returned to the country on Wednesday, is currently in the custody of the DSS.
