Microsoft has unveiled plans to empower 100,000 women in the Philippines through comprehensive training in artificial intelligence (AI) technology and cybersecurity.
Announced on Tuesday during a two-day trade mission led by US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, the initiative aims to equip women with essential workplace skills by utilizing an online platform to delve into Microsoft’s AI tools, including those driven by OpenAI’s expansive language models.
Microsoft, in collaboration with government agencies and local schools, will facilitate the training for government employees, fostering economic advancement through enhanced AI technology.
The program’s broader impact is anticipated to enhance cybersecurity awareness, mitigate disinformation challenges, and introduce an AI-powered reading progress tool for approximately 27 million Philippine students, addressing literacy struggles highlighted in a 2022 World Bank study.
