The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has charged newly appointed George Finidi to ensure that the Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The task was relayed to Finidi by Victor Ikpeba, a member of the NFF technical committee after his appointment was confirmed on Monday by the Nigerian football governing body.
Ikpeba, who was speaking in a chat with Supersport, said that the Super Eagles are on the back foot after drawing its first two World Cup qualifiers and so the team has to win the next two games.
“In the month of June, Nigeria will play the games of their lives against South Africa and Benin.

“We are on the back foot after we drew our first two World Cup qualifiers, and so we have to win the next games.
“We have the players, and if Finidi can get the best out of them, we will qualify for the World Cup.”
According to IKpeba, there are expectations that the new coach will provide Nigerian football players with a better opportunity to play for the Super Eagles.
“He lives here; he works here (as coach of NPFL champions Enyimba),” he said.
