The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to enhancing national security through collaborative efforts with the Republic of Turkiye.
He commented on a visit by Hidayat Bayraktar, the Turkiye Ambassador to Nigeria, to the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Gaidam acknowledged the complex security challenges facing Nigeria and emphasized the importance of exchanging knowledge, expertise, and best practices with Turkiye to effectively address these challenges.
He underscored the visit as a significant step towards deepening bilateral cooperation and friendship between both nations for mutual benefit.
“Our partnership with Turkiye is crucial in tackling our security concerns through intelligence sharing, capacity building, and leveraging modern technologies like Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for enhanced surveillance,” Gaidam stated.
He expressed his commitment to exploring new avenues of collaboration in trade, security, education, and cultural exchange.
On his part, Ambassador Bayraktar made mention of the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Turkiye, dating back to 1961, and commended the progress made in security cooperation and law enforcement training.
He assured the Minister of Turkiye’s continued support and cooperation in strengthening these areas.
The visit concluded with a mutual resolve to deepen bilateral relations, foster greater understanding, and work together towards building a secure and prosperous future for both nations.
In a related development, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has highlighted the significance of strategic Defence Management in Nigeria from the Ministry of Defence’s perspective.
Delivering a lecture titled “Strategic Defence Management in Nigeria: Ministry of Defence in Perspective” to participants of Course 32 at the National Defence College in Abuja, Badaru outlined the comprehensive approach required for effective Defence Management in the country.
He pointed out that efficient Defence Management necessitates thematic approaches in planning, policy formulation, military strategy implementation, and resource management.
