NITDA explores collaborative opportunities with European Union for digital transformation

In a significant development in the realm of digital governance, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has initiated talks with a high-level delegation from the European Union. 

The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, welcomed the EU delegation led by Diplomat Programme Officer Dr Sabri Mekaoui and his team on a courtesy visit yesterday. 

Inuwa said the primary agenda of this diplomatic meeting was to deliberate on collaborations in e-governance and the implementation of Digital Transformation processes within Nigeria. 

According to him, the meeting emphasised the shared commitment of both parties to explore avenues for cooperation, leveraging each other’s expertise and resources to propel Nigeria into the forefront of the digital age.

During the discussions, the European Union delegation conveyed their keen interest in partnering with Nigeria to advance digital initiatives and strengthen governance processes.

A statement from the government agency noted that:

”The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, played a pivotal role in facilitating the dialogue and ensuring a conducive environment for collaboration. 

”His reception of the EU delegation underscored Nigeria’s eagerness to engage in fruitful partnerships to accelerate the nation’s digital transformation journey.

”The collaboration, once formalised, is expected to yield positive outcomes for Nigeria, bringing in international best practices, technological advancements, and strategic guidance to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure. 

”As both parties work towards a consensus on the terms of collaboration, the prospect of a strengthened digital ecosystem in Nigeria remains on the horizon, promising significant strides in e-governance and overall digital development.”
