KAYODA EGBETOKUN, Inspector General of police, has confirmed the organisation of a four-day retreat for senior and strategic Police managers in Nigeria, with the aim of promoting internal security and providing a safe and secure environment for the Federal Government to implement its policies.
The theme of the retreat is ‘Fostering economic prosperity, social integration and political development through an enhanced internal security mechanism’ and will be held from October 30th to November 1st, 2023.
The retreat will be attended by senior police officers from the ranks of DIGs, AIGs and Commissioners, and will feature the participation of security management professionals from around the world, as well as peer review and discussion on four key topics related to the four syndicates of the Nigeria Police Service Scheme.
The Nigerian Police Force is holding a conference and retreat with President Tinubu as the key speaker. Other speakers include state governors, service chiefs, heads of other security agencies, INTERPOL, past IGs, traditional rulers, and other community leaders, including the youth, press, and CLOs.
The event will also include a professionalization of the FCID, a re-orientation programme for officers and men, and a review of the pension scheme to see if any changes need to be made.
Senior officers from the Force will also be able to meet with officials from other security agencies, as well as from other international development partners, to discuss how to improve internal security in the country. In order to ensure a successful and meaningful conference and retreat, the IGP is teaming up with matchmakers to consult internationally.
He is urging all senior police in the country to be actively involved in this important event and to share their insights to help strengthen internal security. He believes that the police can play a key role in the growth and development of Nigeria by promoting economic development, social harmony, and political stability.
