A leaked document on social media has revealed how senators voted at the just concluded Senate Presidency election.

Human rights activist Deji Adeyanju accused the newly sworn-in Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of releasing the list to the media.

The list showed that Ibrahim was the only senator from the southwest who voted against Akpabio.

Ibrahim, 56, is a Nigerian lawyer, businessman and senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District.

He had been seen on various occasions with Yari, including the former Zamfara governor’s visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The revelation angered supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who accused Ibrahim of disobeying the party’s directives.

The APC had openly endorsed Akpabio as Senate President and Barau Jibrin as Deputy Senate President. The endorsement proved useful for the duo as they clinched the positions.

Dasilva Ayeotan wrote:

“Senator Jimoh Ibrahim is a traitor for seconding the nomination of Yari – Benedict Arnold of our time!”

Fredrick Ayodele predicted that the senator would only spend one term in the red chambers.

His words:

“Jimoh Ibrahim, by the special grace of Almighty God, you will be just a one-time senator. You no dey go back to that Senate.”

Kunle Salawu toed the same line, saying:

“Jimoh Ibrahim should forget about returning to Senate. Ingrate!”

Bolanle Cole wrote:

“Jimoh Ibrahim of Ondo APC voted against Asiwaju’s candidate. A traitor is a traitor. Jimoh is a betrayer any day, any time.”
