The caller ID software, Truecaller, has released a web version that offers several features to desktop users, such as call notifications, SMS, chat mirroring and number search capabilities.
The company on Wednesday introduced Truecaller for Web as a new method of accessing the platform when a user’s Android smartphone is not nearby.
Now, users may search for numbers on the online interface, send SMS messages to contacts, or engage in Truecaller chat with them.
Upon loading, automatically-categorized messages will also be displayed in the Truecaller for Web interface.
Newsng understands that as of right now, it only supports Android cellphones; the business has not stated when or if iPhone support will be added.
All Indian users of Truecaller for Android can now utilise a QR code to connect their devices to the web client on a PC or Mac.
Truecaller now only allows one active web session and instantly terminates customers who do not use it for 30 days. Additionally, users can manually de-link a browser from the settings.
This is similar to connecting a chat app like Telegram or WhatsApp on the web.
After logging in, users could previously search for unknown numbers on the Swedish company’s website; however, the recently released Truecaller for Web interface aims to expand the functions available in the Android app to the browser.
When a user links the web client to Truecaller on a smartphone, they can utilise the search box to look for strange numbers by typing or pasting them, even if their phone isn’t close by.
We earlier reported that Truecaller announced the addition of a new AI-based feature in its app.
According to a release, the update was made to provide improved protection against spammers and possible scammers.
