Around 1,500 Nigerian students are currently enrolled in various preparatory, senior, and sixth-form schools across the United Kingdom.
As part of ongoing efforts to attract more Nigerian students, leading UK boarding schools are set to return to Lagos this January for meetings with parents considering educational opportunities abroad for their children.
Organized by Mark Brooks Education in association with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, two key events have been scheduled to provide insight and information to families seeking educational options in the UK.
The first event, an Education Reception and Charity Fashion Show, is slated to take place at The Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 19th, 2024, from 7 pm to 9 pm.
The informal gathering will allow parents to network with representatives from various UK schools in an engaging setting.
Following this, the UK Boarding Schools Week – Exhibition will be held at The Wheatbaker on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, from 1 pm to 5 pm.
This exhibition aims to showcase participating schools and their offerings to interested families.
The roster of attending schools includes prestigious institutions such as Badminton School, Cardiff Sixth Form College, City of London Freemen’s School, Downside School, Earlscliffe, Lancing College, LVS Ascot, Marymount International School London, Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate, St. Clare’s, Oxford, TASIS The American School in England, and Wellington School.
Sarah Travis, the Senior Associate Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions at TASIS England, highlighted the school’s extensive international community and positive global outlook, emphasizing the smooth transition to leading universities in North America and the UK for Nigerian students.
Director of Development, Rachel Debenham from Wellington School noted the increasing number of Nigerian families within their community over the past five years.
She praised the students’ adaptability and active engagement in school life, citing their leadership qualities and commendable academic achievements.
