Well-travelled Spanish tactician Unai Emery has committed to a new contract with English Premier League (EPL) side Aston Villa which will run until the year 2029.
The five-year contract extension comes after an incredible season in which Emery guided Villa to the Premier League’s fourth position and into the Champions League for next season.
Since joining Villa from Villarreal in October 2022, the 52-year-old Spaniard has helped the team turn things around. When he came, Villa was ranked 17th in the Premier League.
Emery, who was born in Hondarribia, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, guided Aston Villa to fourth place in the recently finished Premier League season and seventh place in his first season as manager.

“I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club,” said Emery, whose existing deal still had another three years to run.
“There’s a great chemistry in Aston Villa. And the element of the fans’ support also makes the difference to feel like home.
“We are really excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.” Emery said after penning the contract extension.
Chairman of Aston Villa Nassef Sawiris said they are building something special here at the club with Unai at its core and are delighted to have stayed on until 2029.
