Many Nigerians have reacted to the recent news of President Bola Tinubu appointing Orire Agbaje, a 400 level Economics student of the University of Ibadan as a member of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms
President Tinubu established the Tax Reforms Committee, which is chaired by Taiwo Oyedele, Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Members of the committee come from both the corporate and public sectors.
The President declared during the inauguration that the Committee will be led by the national interest above all else.
According to Tinubu, the nation cannot keep taxing poverty or productivity and must instead concentrate on returns, income, and consumption.
While many Nigerians applauded the tax reform plan, some have had conflicting feelings over the announcement that a 400L was joining the committee.
Ms Orire reportedly holds the position of president of the Nigerian Universities Tax Club.
