WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that will allow users to pin up to three important messages in the chat.
Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and WhatsApp CEO, Will Cathcart, both announced the new feature on their individual WhatsApp channels
Users will be able to pin up to three chats on the site thanks to a recently announced functionality. Users could only pin one message at a time on the platform before this.
“Pinned messages just got better! You can now pin up to three messages per chat so all of your important messages are easy to find,” WhatsApp’s Will Cathcart wrote in his WhatsApp channel.
Pin messages in group and one-on-one chats was initially introduced by the chat app in December of last year.
Polls, photos, and text messages of all kinds can be pinned by users. Pinned messages can be a great way to quickly obtain information, such as a friend’s address or the location of the group outing you have planned.
It will be simpler for WhatsApp users to locate and access crucial conversations thanks to the new functionality. In the coming days, it should be accessible on the web and in WhatsApp for iOS and Android.
In an X post, WhatsApp stated, “If you enjoy pinning a message, you’ll love pinning three because you can now pin up to three messages in your chats.”
A message must be long-pressed to choose “Pin” from the venue. The message’s duration to be pinned can also be chosen, with options including 24 hours, 7 days (the usual option), and 30 days. This makes pinned messages easier to remove if the content becomes dated.
It is not possible to permanently pin a message or address, though. Therefore, you would have to repost the message after 30 days.
Using the contact information menu to retrieve a message that has been “starred” is the only other option.
