Civil servants have confirmed the payment of the 40 per cent salary increase promised by the federal government earlier in the year.
A little over a month into President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, civil servants have begun to confirm the 40 per cent pay rise in salaries.
The Federal Government had earlier promised a salary increase in the purse of civil servants earlier in the year.

And it has been confirmed that government workers at the federal level are already reaping from the benefits.
In Kwara state, civil servants confirmed that they received the credit notification of an increase in their arrears on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
A senior civil servant said: “I received my own arrears today. Some of our other colleagues have also confirmed receipt of their arrears. It came in alongside our April salary.”
In Ibadan another civil servant who is a teacher with a Federal Government school confirmed that it was true.
“Yes, it is true. Though I am a teacher with a Federal Government school, I can confirm to you that I received my April 2023 salary alongside my arrears.”
The federal government proposed a 40 per cent pay rise for workers to cushion the effects of the planned removal of fuel subsidies in the past through the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Productivity.
The minister of labour Chris Ngige has confirmed that President Buhari was in support of the pay rise for workers.
The former Anambra state governor added that the increment was included in the 2023 budget, noting that it would take effect from January 1, 2023.
