English Premier League (EPL) side Manchester United are currently leading the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise should he leave his club in the summer.
Olise’s contract contains a release clause that kicks in after the season, and the player has been singled out by United’s new INEOS ownership as a major target for their summer rebuild.
The precise cost of a deal to sign Olise is unknown, although it would be far more than the £35 million ($43.7 million) clause in his previous contract. According to one report, the sum is between £50 and £60 million.
ESPN was informed by sources that United is leading the chase to sign Olise and is unfazed by the fact that they won’t be able to play in the Champions League the following year.
With seven goals and four assists in just 15 games this season, Olise has proven to be an asset for The Eagles and has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United.
The Daily Express reports, citing BBC Sport, that Manchester United could have to pay millions more than anticipated to sign Olise.
“Manchester United may reportedly be forced to fork out millions more than previously expected to land Crystal Palace star Michael Olise this summer, thanks to a shrewd clause in his contract.

“Olise came close to leaving Palace for Chelsea last summer, but penned a new deal at Selhurst Park, and recent weeks have seen a dramatic uptick in form. The 22-year-old Frenchman has long been admired by United, who are seeking to bolster their attacking options next season.
“However, the BBC claim that Palace have slapped a price tag in excess of £60 million on Olise, with [Eberechi] Eze handed the same valuation. Both signed long-term contracts this season but have release clauses that would prevent the Eagles from standing in a suitor’s way if paid.
“Though such clauses are said to be very complex, any deal would require percentages paid to Olise’s former club Reading, Palace themselves, and the player.
“Olise is thought to be happy at Palace despite interest from United and would only entertain leaving for a club that promises to help demonstrate his considerable ability on the ball, playing on the front foot.” The report reveals.
