A veteran Nollywood actor, Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, popularly known as Lalude, has been given a car as a gift
Lalude, who usually acts as a witch doctor in most Yoruba traditional movies, was overwhelmed with emotions after receiving the gift from his fans.
The presentation of the gift comes days after the actor, who has been acting for decades, took to social media to seek financial assistance.
He equally openly expressed his desire to own a car in the post.
His appeal caught the attention of Nigerian comedian Nepa Boys, who went out of their way to share a video, encouraging the public to support Lalude in his time of need.
In response, many people donated money to the veteran actor, and a kind-hearted anonymous fan even gifted him the generous sum of N3 million specifically to buy a car.
The actor also received a donation of N1 million, among other things, from his fans and well-wishers.
The actor, who now has a car- a red Toyota Camry, whose video is circulating online, overwhelmed with joy, thanked his fans for the assistance.
Lalude is one of the veteran actors to be given a car recently after a social media appeal.
Another Nollywood actress who got a gift of a car, too, recently is Iya Gbonkan, after complaining that after many years of acting, she was yet to own a car.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians are celebrating the car gift, others believe it is a misplaced priority.
They added that if his cry out is real, then this is not the help he needs.
According to them, it is wrong buying him a liability when he actually needed means of generating extra income.
Others believe that they hope this will not become a pattern for actors to use in begging and getting favours.
Some set of other Nigerians observed that it is Nollywood actors and actresses who act diabolical in movies are the ones begging Nigerians for favours as a result of their economic conditions.
