British-Nigerian football player Carney Chukwuemeka has revealed how his coach, Mauricio Pochettino, inspired his goal against Leicester City in the FA Cup match on Sunday.
Chukwuemeka, who was responding to questions fielded by BBC Match of the Day, said that Pochettino told him to do what he knows how to do best on the field of play.
The player added that the coach told him to express himself, and he also thanked his teammate Cole Palmer, who laid the assist as he scored in the Blues’ 4-2 win over Leicester City.
“I enjoyed it,” he told BBC Match of the Day of his goal and performance after the game.
“Coach [Pochettino] said ‘Just go on and do what we know you can do, express yourself’, and that is what I did.
“Obviously I’ve got to thank my boy Cole for the one-two. To be fair before the game he said to me he was going to assist me if I come on, so fair play to him.”
