Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has underscored the importance of unity as the cornerstone for Nigeria to overcome its challenges and realize its aspirations of becoming a great nation.
Speaking at the Tarok Cultural Annual Festival in Langtang, Langtang North Local Government of Plateau State, Dogara highlighted the significance of a united Nigeria in achieving collective goals.
He stated that a united nation would be formidable and capable of achieving anything it sets its mind to.
Dogara stressed that Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than weakness.
Drawing parallels with the ecosystem, he pointed out how diverse species coexist in a symbiotic relationship, highlighting the harmony that can be achieved through unity despite differences.
“God himself is the God of diversity. Our diversity shouldn’t be a source of weakness; it should be a source of strength if we agree to come together,” he stated.
The former Speaker urged Nigerians to embrace unity, build bridges, and foster mutual understanding to surmount the country’s challenges. He expressed confidence that Nigeria can overcome its obstacles with determination and concerted efforts.
In particular, Dogara called upon the Tarok people and their guests to champion peace and unity in their communities.
He urged them to serve as ambassadors of peace, starting from Tarok land and extending their efforts to promote harmony across Plateau State and Nigeria.
