Daniel Regha, a popular social media influencer, has called out those asking that Omowunmi, the wife of the late Nigerian rapper, Mohbad, submit her son for a DNA test.
In a post via his X account, on Saturday Mr Regha described the call as disgusting and an act of double standard towards women.
He said
“Mohbad’s wife doesn’t have to do a DNA test unless the affected family insists; The public forcing her to do this over an alleged leaked conversation makes no sense.
“When a man dies “unexpectedly” our society questions & interrogates his wife/lover, but men don’t get the same treatment when the tables are turned. The double standards are disgusting.
Following the death of Mobad, there have been controversies following the nature which led to the demise of the fast-rising star. While Nigerians have called for the investigation of Mohbad’s death, some have also placed fingers towards the wife asking for a DNA test for the rapper’s 5-month-old son, Liam.
In reaction, Mr Regha said if a DNA test should be demanded it should only come from the late rapper’s family, not some social media commentators.
He also called on Nigerians and other critics to stay clear and focus their energy towards ensuring the late singer gets all his royalties from his former record label, Marlian Records
He added that the focus should be that the late singer’s assaulters are brought to book.
He added: “If a DNA test must be conducted, the request should come from Mohbad’s family. The public should back off, channel that energy into fighting for the retrieval of his catalogue from Marlian Records, & call for the arrest of his assaulters. Get your priorities straight.
The Nigerian police had revealed preparations to launch a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba’s passing, also known as Mohbad.
Additionally, Mobad’s body was exhumed last week. The police have also urged Nigerians to maintain following its announcement on the completion of its examination and assuring that the results were on the way.
