Jumia Food has disclosed that it will no longer provide services in Nigeria after December 2023.

Jumia also said it plans to terminate its food services in other countries which are  Kenya, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Uganda.

Jumia Chief Executive Officer, Francis Dufay disclosed that the company will focus more on effective delivery of goods and improve payment systems.

In a statement, he said that focusing more on physical goods will provide more chances of earning profits.

“We must take the right decision and fully focus our management, our teams and our capital resources to go after this opportunity. In the current context, it means leaving a business line, which we believe does not offer the same upside potential food delivery.”

The company further explains that it will change the working departments of some workers to physical goods order processing units.
