The Kenyan authorities have reportedly arrested and charged a lawmaker for allegedly conspiring to steal $7.6 million meant for student scholarships.
In a report by the BBC, the senator, Jackson Magdago was arrested on Wednesday alongside three others on allegations that they stole the said amount meant to fund further education for Kenyan students in Finland and Canada.
Mr Magdago has since been charged to court and arraigned and his co-accused on 11 charges before a Kenyan high court.
The senator, according to the BBC, has refuted all claims.
However, on Thursday, a magistrate ordered that the trial could not begin until all four accused appeared in court.
According to local media, the prosecution intends to appeal the senator’s and his co-accused’s release.
