President Tinubu’s legal team has claimed that a mix-up at Chicago State University caused the “F” marked on President Tinubu’s certificate to be given to a female student. This claim was made during an interview with Newsmen on Monday.
Atiku, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, had filed an action in the District Court Northern Illinois, United States of America, seeking to compel the Chicago State University to provide him with his academic records.
When asked why the “F” mark was included on the President’s certificate, lawyer Afolabi said, “The transcript that Southwest College provided indicated an F, it was very clear. All the other details matched up with President Tinubu.”
The school registrar was also interrogated on the discrepancies. According to him, the person who applied for the school was a male, not a female, and when the “letter of admission” was issued, it was given to the male student.
When asked about the discrepancies on the certificates, Dr West Brown said that it is not uncommon for universities to make mistakes. He added that he had been to several universities, so it is possible.
Regarding the signatures on the certificates, Afolabi stated that the certificates were not issued until someone applied for them. He also said that the person who gave the certificate to INEC may not have been a student at the University in 1979.
In response to the question, a former Atiku spokesperson, Segun SOWUNMI, said that they did not know if Tinubu went to Chicago State University. He also noted that they were running left and right and that they could not own the certificate that says he is female, as there is a security number attached to it.
