The Air Component of Operation Delta Safe has successfully obliterated unlawful oil refining sites through strategic air strikes in Krakama and Temakiri, located in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In an official statement on Sunday, AVM Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, revealed that the air interdiction occurred on Friday as part of the ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
Both locations, situated approximately 50 km Southwest of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers, were subjected to targeted attacks destroying illegal refining sites and associated boats.
Mr Gabkwet further reported that the armed reconnaissance extended to Abisse and Omoma, where only abandoned illegal refining sites were identified.
Highlighting the commitment to eradicating the activities of oil thieves in the Niger Delta region, he affirmed that the collaborative efforts of the NAF and other security agencies would persist until total success is achieved in curtailing such illicit activities.
