The minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva has resigned from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.
Confirming the development was president Buhari’s special assistant on digital communication Bashir Ahmad on his Twitter page on Friday, March 31, 2023

Sylva, a one-term governor, has expressed interest in trying his luck for the second term for the position.
Some stakeholders of the APC in Bayelsa state have asked the party to suspend Sylva from contesting the party’s governorship ticket if he refuses to resign as a minister according to the party’s guidelines.
However, Ahmad confirmed that the controversial minister had stepped aside on Friday on his Twitter handle.
