The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned manufacturers and dealers of regulated products sternly, urging them to refrain from producing and selling fake and substandard items.
The South East Zonal Director of NAFDAC, Martins Iluyomade, delivered the warning during a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, organized by the State Director of the agency, Mercy Ndukwe.
Iluyomade emphasized NAFDAC’s commitment to ensuring that products manufactured and sold in the country meet local and international standards.
He informed the officials that NAFDAC’s scrutiny would extend beyond the production inspection stage, with a newly constituted committee tasked with purchasing products from the market for analysis.
The director urged stakeholders to maintain consistency in the quality of their products, emphasizing that the agency would conduct personal analysis by procuring items from the market.
Ndukwe, the State Director of NAFDAC, clarified that the meeting aimed to inform stakeholders about the agency’s activities for the year and ensure compliance with guidelines.
Stakeholders, including the state Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Dr. Norbert Ajero, pledged their commitment to supporting NAFDAC’s activities and adhering to regulatory standards.
”The collaborative efforts between NAFDAC and stakeholders reflect a collective commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of products available in the market,” Ajero said.
