The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced a strict zero-tolerance policy against extortion within its ranks.
The commission said it is committed to ensuring its staff exhibit ethical behaviors’ while discharging their duties.
It reiterated that the process of identifying enrolment remains free of charge, adding that, ”citizens are not required to pay any fees for essential enrolment services.”
The commission added: ”However, a nominal fee of N500 per field is applicable for any data modification, except for changing the date of birth, which incurs a processing fee of N15,000. This fee is non-refundable.
”NIMC has established designated channels for reporting extortion. Applicants are encouraged to report any instances of extortion through email at [email protected] or by contacting 08157691214 or 09034959433.
”Any payment not made through the official remita platform or exceeding the approved fees should be reported.”
It added that in a bid to uphold the highest standards of data security and compliance, all Front End Partners of NIMC are currently undergoing a revalidation process for their licenses.
”NIN enrolment and data modifications are ongoing at all NIMC centers’.
”The commission is working to ensure a seamless process for Nigerian citizens and legal residents,” it added.
