The Nigerian government has launched a Startup Support and Engagement Portal, https://startup.gov.ng, to implement the Nigeria Startup Act.
Announcing the initiative via social media, the minister of communications and digital economy, Bosun Tijani, stated that the portal aims to serve as a pivotal platform facilitating the identification and consolidation of Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centres, fostering engagement and support within the ecosystem.
He said with the portal’s initiation; plans are underway to establish startup consultative forums, a crucial step in selecting representatives for the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
According to him, these forums will play a pivotal role in enabling dialogue and consensus-building among ecosystem players in Nigeria.
He encouraged all Nigerian startup venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centres to register on the portal.
The minister also expressed optimism in the endeavour, highlighting its potential to drive growth and advancement within Nigeria’s startup landscape.
”We invite all Nigerian startups venture capital companies, hubs and innovation centres to register at the portal and look forward to working with all industry stakeholders to ensure that we fully implement the Startup Act for the benefit of our innovation ecosystem,” he stated.
