The NITDA has commended the contribution of Nigerians in diaspora, last year the Agency said it received $29.1 billion worth of remittances via legal channels which the agency said is four times more than foreign investments via the FDI.
The National Information Technology Development Agency [NITDA] has urged diasporan officials to put more effort into its information technology research and development to bring economic development to the country.
The NITDA through its Director General stated this during a diaspora event in Ondo state.
According to him, professionalism and connecting with foreign networks are vital in making Nigeria a digital economy.
The summit was aided by the United Nations and European Union Commission via the Integrated National Financing Framework [INFF] and was aimed at discovering untapped resources, it also called on the diasporan group to take advantage of all sectors such as education, technology, infrastructure etc
