Some Nigerians on Twitter have reacted to a recent photo of Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator from Bayelsa East, congratulating Diezani Alison-Madueke, the embattled former Nigerian minister of Petroleum, on her son’s graduation from a university in the United Kingdom.
Mr Murray-Bruce was pictured posing with Ms Alison-Madueke in a post he uploaded on Thursday on his social media accounts.
In the post which has since generated over 418,000 views on Twitter, Mr Murray-Bruce wrote, “Sassy, smart, and always sophisticated. Celebrating with the amazing Diezani Alison-Madueke at her son’s graduation at @UniofReading
“Her son’s achievement is a testament to the power of good parenting. Excellence indeed runs in the family.”
Mrs Alison-Madueke served as Minister of Petroleum from 2010 to 2015 under President Goodluck Jonathan. She was reported to have fled Nigeria in 2015 to the UK where she was arrested in the UK and investigated for money laundering.
While she had been living in the UK due to rumours that she had breast cancer, the Nigerian government had on its part made multiple attempts to extradite her so she could face corruption charges.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has indicted her in a number of criminal investigations in the past years.
But in a counter affidavit lawsuit through her lawyer Mike Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (SAN) on May 26, Ms Alison-Madueke asked that the EFCC AGF pay N100 billion over the libellous publication against her.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have taken to the social blogging platform to react to the photos of Ms Alison-Madueke @Baloogogero on Twitter saying, Cancer is gone? praise the Lordddddd!!!
Also on Twitter, @eldershody said “Maami defeated cancer
While at @gb_clive said, “Na scam. She went into acting to evade prosecution.
@osarah793 said, “The makeup artist deserves Guinness book. Mama the mama scale fence like lightening 😊”
And @Ozo_Ude wrote “She’s a thief. She stole our money to train her son in the UK. That son trained with public stolen money won’t amount to greatness”
Also, @EONBlogger on Twitter wrote “Every politician and civil service office holders in Nigeria are thieves. The only difference is that some are not caught yet, some were caught but highly connection gave them freedom, and people like Diezani were caught and exposed because they were not as connected.
