Akuboye, the daughter of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa state, has graduated from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
Her father announced it on his Facebook page, with pictures of his daughter and other family members at the graduation ceremony.
Senator Dickson could not attend the ceremony in person but watched it online with other family members back home.
He expressed delight that his daughter is proceeding with her Master’s Programme immediately, describing her as a decent lady.
His words:
”Today, my brilliant, lovely and dependable daughter, Miss Akuboye Christiana Seriake Dickson, graduated with an honours degree in Business Administration from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
”I and family members who were not in the UK physically were elated as we followed the graduation ceremony online and watched her together with her fellow graduands being handed over their degrees.
”On behalf of my family, I thank God and also congratulate her for the brilliant performance in her undergraduate studies and also for the decent and reliable lady she has become.
”I am happy that her mother, my first daughter and my first son, with my cousins and others, represented me and the family at the occasion.
”I wish her the very best, and I am further delighted that she will be proceeding immediately to commence her master’s degree programme in the UK, which she has already been accepted to do. I wish her the very best.”
Meanwhile, one of Senator Dickson’s followers on social media, Bonnke Timinpre, reminded the governor of his vow in 2012.
He wrote:
”I still remember vividly how you raised my hope with your inaugural speech in 2012 when you said none of your children would school outside of Bayelsa state from nursery to university.
”You even declared a state of emergency in the education sector, but all to no avail because everything to you is politics. Posterity will continue to judge us all. Congratulations to Akuboye.”
