Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is asking for the recently held 2023 polls to be cancelled because it lacked integrity and validity.
The Ogun state indigene made his grouse known as results from various parts of the country were released, in a statement titled 2023 Nigeria Presidential Election: An Appeal For Caution and Rectification.”
The former number one citizen of the country said: “Tension is building up and please let all elections that do not pass the credibility and transparency test be cancelled and be brought back with areas where elections were disrupted for next Saturday, March 4, 2023, and BVAS and Server officials be changed.”

However, the presidential campaign council of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) stated that Obasanjo’s demand to cancel the presidential polls is hypocritical.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser, Media, Communications and Public Affairs, APC PCC, Dele Alake said Obasanjo’s claims lacked evidence.
“No true democrat must seek an abortion of the process just because he believes the elections are not going his way. What Obasanjo is subtly calling for in his nefarious statement is a coup against democracy and the constitution.”
