Raimi Olayiwola Aminu, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing in Ondo State, has tendered his resignation 24 hours after the inauguration of Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the new governor.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, Aminu conveyed his resignation, effective December 28.
He cited personal conviction and a sense of allegiance to the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, whom he revered as a leader and a ‘dear boss,’ for his decision.
Expressing deep gratitude, Aminu acknowledged Governor Akeredolu and the people of Ondo State for the opportunity to serve in various capacities within the administration.
His resignation, coming immediately after the swearing-in of the new governor, indicates that the commissioner might not be comfortable working with Aiyedatiwa.
Almost a dozen commissioners and aides have resigned following the demise of Akeredolu.
While some say their resignations underscore personal and moral reasons tied to loyalty and respect for the former Governor Akeredolu, others say they are afraid of being fired by the new helmsman at Government House, Akure.
