One of the widows of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi 111, is in search of love.
Queen Dami, as she is called, took to a matchmaking platform to see if she could actualise her dream
The queen, who was previously married to the monarch before he passed away in April 2022, joined a live dating session hosted by a self-styled matchmaker and actor, Lege Miami, hoping to find a compatible partner.
The action of the queen caused a stir on social media.
While some commentators commended her for finding the courage to come out openly, some said she should have gone about it secretly given the status of the man she was previously married to.
Queen Damilola is no stranger to controversies.
She was reportedly once locked up in a cell after allegedly going against a palace rule, an act that prompted her to leave her marriage and run away from the palace for Lagos on April 2021.
A few worried Nigerians agreed to donate money to help Damilola find a comfortable place to live and restart her life a few days after she left the place, which saved her from being homeless.
In contrast, a guy said in a video posted on Instagram by blogger Gistlovers on May 31, 2021, that the monarch often sends Queen Dami feeding allowances after she left the castle.
Also, according to the man, the Alaafin rented a home for Dami’s mother. She denied the statement.
She claimed that she used the money donated by good-hearted Nigerians to pay for her son’s tuition and her mother’s rent.
