English Premier League (EPL) side Southampton has offered the sum of £6.5 million to Fenerbahce to acquire the services of SuperEagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel.
With one year left on his contract, Osayi-Samuel is under contract with Fenerbahce, who are eager to lock him down to a new agreement. The sides have not yet agreed on a pay plan.
Reports say Southampton are seeking to take advantage of the deadlock as the Nigerian international wants an increase in his salary to commit his future to the Turkish club.
Instead of letting the full-back depart on a free transfer the next summer, the Istanbul giants might have to sell the player who made 23 league appearances for the team last season.

This comes three months after Osayi-Samuel escaped the hammer of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) following his much-publicised fight and altercation with irate Trabzonspor supporters after a football game last month.
The Turkish Football Federation summoned Osayi-Samuel and his teammates following an altercation with Trabzonspor supporters, who attacked Fenerbahce players and officials after their team’s 3-2 loss.
Following the pitch invasion at the Trabzonspor vs. Fenerbahce game on March 17, the Turkish Football Federation has named the defender as one of three players set to appear at a disciplinary hearing.
The 26-year-old, who received a lot of praise from Fenerbahce supporters for his actions, was later exonerated of any culpability in the event, according to the Turkish website A Spor.
