Ali Ndume (R-Borno South), the Senator representing the Senatorial District of Borno State, took a shot at the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday.
In a video, Ndume accused the Senate President of approving certain executive bills without first reading them and seeking input from other members.
On the same day, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Senator Ogoshi Olawale Onawo (R-Nasarawa State) also took a shot at Akpabio, accusing him of trying to fast-track the passage of certain bills.
On the occasion, Onawo said, “These are very sensitive bills that are being passed at lightning speed, which is bad for the country.”
Every member of the Senate is supposed to be well-informed; they do their homework and contribute to the good of the Nation, but when bills are submitted and required to pass in about two hours, it is wrong for the country.
Akpabio responded to Onawo’s comment by saying, “Sir, you are in the seat today, history will judge you, and history will judge you right if you pass a bill that is not in the interest of the people of Nigeria. I don’t think we came here to pass bills that are bad for the country. Your point is noted.
