The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said that no one was killed in the tanker explosion that occurred in Ijora, Lagos State, Friday
The service’s General Manager Margaret Adeseye said in a statement that the fire had been brought under control.
According to Newsmen, the tanker explosion took place on Thursday night on the bridge connecting the Ijora area to the Orile and Costain areas of Lagos.
Adeseye said that the fire has been brought under control as pockets of fire continue to be contained, allowing for investigation to uncover the cause and the removal of the body to bring the area back to normal.
The incident resulted in damages of 11 vehicles, including 2 tankers, 1 tipper truck 3 trailers, 3 cars, and 2 micro-mini buses.
According to the Southwest Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Farinloye, the tanker fire resulted in the damages of 13 vehicles, including 2 buses, 2 cars, 1 trailer loaded with ‘Sardines’ and ‘Detergents’, 1 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and 3 flat body trailers.
It also claimed the lives of two 20 feet containers and 2 PMS tanker trucks.
LASEMA is evacuating the burnt vehicles.
